Welcome to Springfield Township, Bucks County!
Springfield Township is a Second Class Township. The Township is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, each elected to serve a six-year term.
The Township population, according to the 2000 census, is just under 5,000 residents.
Springfield is one of five townships that make up the Palisades School District. Springfield Elementary School, located on Route 212, is in the Township.
There are eight post offices servicing Springfield Township residents: Springtown, Quakertown, Coopersburg, Hellertown, Kintnersville, Riegelsville, Zion Hill and Richlandtown. They are not all located in the Township, but partially cover sections of Springfield Township. We also have two area codes: 610 and 215.
Springfield Township’s Road Department is responsible for maintaining 46 miles of paved road and 14 miles of dirt roads.
Open Space preservation is a priority for the residents of Springfield Township. In 2000, the residents approved by Referendum a .25% Earned Income Tax to be set aside for preservation of open space. At the end of 2007, Springfield Township had preserved 1522 acres. Whenever possible, the Township matches funding sources to ensure that the residents get the most for their tax money.
